Peace And Power!
By W. C. Moore
Looking forward to the mighty ministry of Jesus, John the Baptist said, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, Whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire" (Matt. 3:11). We need the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit that we might live a holy life. We also need His power to witness unto others of what God has done for us (Rom. 8:13; Acts 1:8) and to do that particular work which God has called each one, individually, to do (1 Cor. 12:1-10).
Evangelist Charles G. Finney, who was mightily used of the Lord in evangelistic campaigns many years ago, tells how he was saved one morning, and that very night received a mighty baptism of the Holy Spirit, and when he spoke to people, after this baptism, they were convicted of sin.
"I found I could not live without enjoying the presence of God; and if at any time a cloud came over me, I could not rest, I could not study, I could not attend to anything with the least satisfaction or benefit," he said – until things were again clear between his soul and God.
Oh, to have such a close walk with God, that if fellowship is broken in the least way we will seek God desperately and earnestly until the Lord’s blessings are again with us!
