Fellow Helpers To The Truth

By Lois J. Stucky

How blessed it is to focus on our Lord Jesus Christ in this issue of Herald of His Coming! From the depth of our hearts we gladly confess: "Christ is all, and in all" (Col. 3:11). Think a few moments on just one phase of our exalted Lord’s being – on Christ as the truth. On one occasion Jesus declared Himself as "the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6). The Apostle John declared Jesus as "full of grace and truth" and he further writes that "grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:14, 17).

Many in today’s society declare there are no absolute truths. But how blessed are we who fully believe that the absolute truth is found in Jesus, the living Word, and that it is recorded in the written Word, the Bible. According to Jesus, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away" (Matt. 24:35). And these truths are not only for all time but also for all people around the world!

Walk in the Truth

We who have received Christ Jesus the Lord are to "walk…in Him: rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith" (Col. 2:6-7). Bless God, we walk not in darkness and deception but in the light and in truth and in love! We walk by faith and by the Spirit, and by the Word. Christ has given us commandments to help us walk in the truth. Herald of His Coming has available Newsletter #17, listing the commandments of Jesus under twenty-one principles. You are invited to write us for a copy/copies of Newsletter #17 titled The Authority of Christ to help in your personal walk with Jesus and to share with others in a prayer or study group. The newsletters will be sent free upon your request to Herald of His Coming, stating the number of copies you can prayerfully use.

Valiant for the Truth

Our blessed Jesus who was truth Himself, was valiant for the truth, giving His life at great cost for its fulfillment. Today there are dear saints of God who are valiant for the truth, hazarding their lives – and in some cases giving their lives as martyrs – as they share the truths from God’s Word. Pray for these soldier-saints throughout the world who endure hardships beyond what most of us know in order to spread the message dear to their hearts.

Preach the Truth

Some standing in pulpits must face people who do not want to hear sound doctrine. Let us congregations unite in love behind our preachers in prayer, that they will nevertheless preach God’s Word with Holy Spirit boldness. Ask God to endue His preachers with patience and wisdom that is from above, gentle, full of mercy, without partiality and without hypocrisy (Jas. 3:17).
