The Difference Herald Friends Make
By Rich Carmicheal
"You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints…. I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived…for they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition" (1 Cor. 16:15-18).
One of the ways the Lord is blessing Herald of His Coming is through the wonderful group of volunteers He has raised up to work with this ministry. These brothers and sisters love the Lord and are eager to serve Him and readers such as you. They provide encouragement and much needed help to the Herald staff.
On January 12, one of these dear volunteers, Brother Ralph Jackson, went home to be with the Lord. Brother Jackson began his volunteer work by helping with the monthly mailing of packages of Heralds. I remember him stuffing envelope after envelope with 25 to 50 papers. For about the past year, he and his wife have done volunteer work in their home as they labeled, stuffed, and sealed envelopes containing single papers for readers overseas. Their help has been significant as month after month they personally have prepared Herald mailings for several thousand readers. If you are a reader outside the United States, it is very likely that Brother Jackson personally helped package one or more of the Heralds you have received. In addition to the fellowship, encouragement, and volunteer work this brother offered to the Herald, he also shared generous financial support. The ministry of Herald of His Coming has been truly blessed by this man of God. We will miss him, but we rejoice that he is with the Lord.
One of the verses that comes to my mind as I think about Brother Jackson is Hebrews 6:10-11, "God…will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure." Although labeling and stuffing thousands of envelopes each month can become tedious work, Brother Jackson never lost his heart for the work. He was greatly blessed knowing that he had a hand in helping brothers and sisters around the world receive spiritual encouragement through Herald of His Coming. His work with the Herald was one of his ways to express his love for the Lord and to provide help to the Lord’s people. Although he was retired from his profession, he remained diligent to the end of his life in his love and service for the Lord. Praise the Lord that He will not forget this labor of love!
As I consider Brother Jackson’s contribution to the Herald, I cannot help but think of all of you who are giving in some way so that others might benefit through this ministry. Some of you are offering financial support, some of you are praying, some of you are sharing the paper with others, and some of you are providing encouragement through your correspondence with the Herald office. Because of such help, this ministry is able to share revival materials and salvation materials with many readers each month. Praise the Lord!
If you are not currently involved in some way, we invite you to begin helping so that others might receive spiritual encouragement in the Lord through your support. If you would like to begin sharing copies of the paper with others, please write for extra copies for distribution. If you would like to begin praying for the ministry, we invite you to write for a daily prayer guide to the U.S. office at this address:
