Sowing God’s Word In Zimbabwe

Thank you to all of you who partner with the ministry of Herald of His Coming through your prayers, encouragement and financial support.  The love you show and the help you offer not only benefit many through the English edition of the Herald, but the readers of other language editions as well.  As we all know, the world is in desperate condition and the need for ministry is tremendous.  One example of this is the situation in Zimbabwe as Brother Godfrey Ndiriwenyu, the Herald representative there and editor of the Shona Herald, describes in this recent email:

“The world is going through some very difficult and tumultuous times:  terrorism, sheer hatred of leaders, violence, economic meltdowns and moral decadence to name but a few.  All are coming fast and furious.  As for us here, we do not need to be told, and maybe there too.  We are seeing it live with our own eyes.  The economy is hemorrhaging to death, the love of many is now in the deep freezer, morality has been thrown out of the window and the corruption cancer has gone beyond therapy.  Everyday hardships have corroded people’s faith and spiritual determination to such an extent that some have lost all hope and a great many people have come to the end of themselves.

“Someone must come to our help as a nation.  We cannot help ourselves.  False prophets have sprouted up, taking advantage of people’s desperation.  The flock is being ripped apart for financial gains.  Dear Lord [have mercy], someone must stand up and ‘blow the trumpet.  Someone must sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:  Gather the people, sanctify the congregation….’

“What more is needed at such a time as this than God Himself?  As shepherds of the flock, we need God more than ever before.  Please join us in prayer for a great revival that these scattered bones [of hope] may live again.  ‘Oh, that You would rend the heavens and that You would come down, that the mountains might quake and flow down at Your presence…’ (Isa. 64:1ff.)”

Brother Godfrey goes on to state the vital role he believes the Herald ministry can have in his country, and to also express his appreciation for all of the Herald friends who partner in this work:

“I believe and I am totally convinced that the Herald of His Coming and Mharidzo (the Shona Herald) are, and can play a major role at such a time as this, especially in our country at the moment.  They are part and parcel of the answer.  This is a faithful saying and I say it from my heart.  We need the true and living Gospel.  Thank you very much dear partners for standing with us up to now.  It’s a miracle of all times.  Your prayers and financial support have been of great help in oiling the wheels of the Gospel; and they are still turning.  You are sowing in very good ground.  In due course, you will reap a hundred fold….  Thank you very much for answering this great call, my humble clap of hands to you all.

“‘Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord’ (1.Cor. 15:58).”

Praise and Prayer

Praise the Lord with us for our dear Brother Godfrey and the service he is providing on behalf of the Herald ministry.  Pray for the Lord’s grace and power to be at work in his life and in the lives of all believers in Zimbabwe in these desperate times so that they impact their nation for His glory.  Pray for the Lord’s ongoing provision and anointing upon the English and Shona Heralds to accomplish His purposes.  Pray for the Lord’s protection and provision for Brother Godfrey and his family, including the need for his daughter to find a job.

Please also pray for all Herald International workers with this prayer of Andrew Murray in mind:  And bless especially the inner chamber of all Thy servants who are working for Thee, as the place where God’s truth and God’s grace is revealed to them, where they are daily anointed with fresh oil, where their strength is renewed and the blessings are received in faith, with which they are to bless their fellow men.  Lord, draw us all in the closet nearer to Thyself and the Father.  Amen.

A Prayer for the Lord’s Harvest

Blessed Lord!  There is the harvest which is so large, and perishing, as it waits for sleepy disciples to give the signal for laborers to come.  Lord, teach us to look out upon it with a heart moved with compassion and pity.  There are the laborers, so few.  Lord, show us how terrible the sin of the want of prayer and faith, of which this is the token.  And there is the Lord of the harvest, so able and ready to send them forth.  Lord, show us how He does indeed wait for the prayer to which He has bound His answer.  And there are the disciples, to whom the commission to pray has been given:  Lord, show us how Thou canst pour down Thy Spirit and breathe upon them, so that Thy compassion and the faith in Thy promise shall rouse them to unceasing, prevailing prayer.

O our Lord!  We cannot understand how Thou canst entrust such work and give such power to men so slothful and unfaithful.  We thank Thee for all whom Thou art teaching to cry day and night for laborers to be sent forth.  Lord, breathe Thine own Spirit on all Thy children, that they may learn to live for this one thing alone  the Kingdom and glory of their Lord  and become fully awake to the faith of what their prayer can accomplish.  And let all our hearts in this, as in every petition, be filled with the assurance that prayer, offered in loving faith in the living God, will bring certain and abundant answer.  Amen.
