Lord, Manifest Your Presence In Our Day
By Rich Carmicheal
The Herald staff considers it a great privilege to share with you the messages in this issue. While they are serious messages written by men passionate about repentance and revival, the messages also provide much hope. There is no doubt the Lord has it on His heart to awaken the church and the lost as He is issuing the call from various sources for His people to turn from self and sin, and to seek Him earnestly for revival.
In Revival Fire, Wesley Duewel writes that during revival "God manifests His presence in overwhelming reality." His presence and power are so mightily and extensively at work that He "accomplishes more in hours or days than usually results from years of faithful nonrevival ministry. ...During revival people are moved toward Christ, people who can be moved in no other way. Often the very atmosphere seems awesomely filled with God’s power. Christians recognize it as the holy presence of God. Sinners feel a fearsome awareness of God’s presence and their own sinfulness."
Is this not exactly what we need? What hope is there without such a manifestation of God’s presence and power? And what potential is there if God does indeed manifest "His presence in overwhelming reality"! Can you imagine what it would mean for the church and for the lost? He has done it before in various places and at various times, and the impact has been remarkable. Is not the prospect of such a manifestation of His presence and power worth our full devotion?
May we be among those who in humility, repentance and prayer, earnestly seek the Lord for such an outpouring in our day! – Rich Carmicheal
"Lord, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy" (Hab. 3:2).
